Chase’s knack for hitting line drives did him in on Monday night, as he didn’t hit enough home runs to make it out of the first round. Chase did put one into the upper deck and another off the facade of the second deck in right field of Yankee Stadium, but it his first round total of five home runs was not enough to carry him into the second round. Chase hit a number of hard line drives that landed just short of the fence in right field.
Phils bullpen catcher Mick Billmeyer was Chase’s pitcher.
“I think Mick did a great job of throwing BP,” Utley said. “I didn’t get goose-egged, which was nice. But you’ve got to really appreciate what Josh Hamilton did. I thought it was pretty amazing. I’ve never seen a show like that, ever.”
Chase was referring to the show put on by Josh Hamilton who hit monster home run after monster home run in the first round. Hamilton’s 28 home runs in the first round, with several going over 500 feet, set a new home run derby record for home runs in a round.
“It was something we might not ever see again,” Chase said. “A guy that is that strong and has that consistent of a swing is pretty rare. What did he hit, 28 home runs? That’s pretty impressive.”

He said “Boo? F*** you!” Which not going to lie, I almost died laughing when I heard that. He shouldn’t have had to apologize.

Laura…at the homerun derby when all the players taking part were being announced, people booed when Chase was introduced. Chase, obviously forgetting he was miked up, made a joke to Dan Uggla saying “boo? f*** you” to the fans. that’s what he apolagized for saying that was a wrong choice of words and that he’s really sorry, he didn’t mean anything by it.
what i have to say about that is…OMG! i would never think of Chase cursing but hey, the guys human and a ballplayer. things slip like that lol
