When we last left Chase Utley, he was handily leading the field of National League vote-getters for the All-Star Game.
Nothing’s changed, as another week has merely widened Utley’s already sizeable lead. The Cubs’ Mark DeRosa, a distant second behind Utley, will have to be named by NL manager Clint Hurdle to attend the Midsummer Classic.
With 1,743,548 votes, Utley is the leading vote-getter in the Major Leagues. He has more votes than the Astros’ Lance Berkman, the Yankees’ Derek Jeter or Alex Rodriguez, the Red Sox’s David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez and the Braves’ Chipper Jones.
Last week, Utley added to his Major League-leading home run total when he pounded his 22nd of the season off Cardinals righty Todd Wellemeyer on Friday. He’s also had two stretches in which he’s homered in five straight games. Utley started the 2007 All-Star Game, going 0-for-2 at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, and he played in the 2006 contest, going 1-for-2 at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park.
The Phillies superstar is poised to make his second All-Star start. This would be Utley’s first career appearance at Yankee Stadium in the historic ballpark’s final season.

Congrats, Michelle!!!! That’s awesome!
This is off topic, but…......Did anyone see Jen interviewing Chase on Behind the Pinstripes last Sunday? It was at J.Roll’s bowling charity. J.Roll had given everyone nicknames and had them printed on their bowling shirts. Chase’s nickname was “The Model”. Jen asked him…...“I really want to know why you’re The Model. Is it because your skinny like a model?” Chase said…..“Maybe. But I don’t think I’m especially skinny.” LOL! There was a lot more to the interview. Very, very cute.

omg, chase is soo nice! like i always knew he was but today just put it over the top lol. i was at the game today (boston red sox, 6/18) and i brought my “i <3 Chase Utley 26 & Pat Burrell 5 can i have your autographs please” sign and was standing by the fence by the dugout and after chase was done warming up, he came over to where i was standing and started signing autographs right there. someones pen ran out so he aksed to use someone elses so i gave him mine. then he came back to me (he was signing the people next to me, like about 5 people down i guess?) and saw i also had a baseball in my hand. he asked me which one i wanted him to sign (my poster or my ball) so i asked if he could sign both please so he said sure no problem and then after i said thank you soooo much and he said “awe no problem” it was just soo nice how he said no problem. he was like so polite (sorry everyone if i sound like im bragging! i dont mean it at all if i do!!! i’ve just been wanting his autograph really really bad for the past 2 years! lol)
also, don’t forget to keep voting ;) it would be great if he kept that lead the whole way through! lol! =)
