If voting ended Wednesday, the Phillies would have four National League starters at the All-Star Game.
Phillies second baseman Chase Utley has a commanding lead at his position with 1,103,430 votes, which are more votes than any NL player has received at any position. Utley’s closest competition is Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks, who has just 261,591 votes.
Third baseman Placido Polanco maintained his lead over New York Mets third baseman David Wright. Polanco has 500,293 votes to Wright’s 377,815.
Shortstop Jimmy Rollins, despite the fact he has missed almost the entire season because of a strained right calf, leads with 548,629 votes. But Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez is close behind with 526,890 votes.
Right fielder Jayson Werth joins Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun and Los Angeles’ Andre Ethier as the top three outfielders. Braun leads with 693,460 votes. Werth is second with 629,894 and Ethier is third with 606,514. Philadelphia center fielder Shane Victorino, who was third last week, fell to fourth with 566,434 votes. Phillies left fielder Raul Ibanez is eighth with 390,176.
Philadelphia catcher Carlos Ruiz is in a close race with St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, who leads with 494,517. Ruiz is second with 416,585.
Ryan Howard is second amongst first basemen, but his 532,729 are well behind St. Louis’ Albert Pujols, who has 1,006,149 votes.
