Chase wins Silver Slugger Award

Chase was awarded the Silver Slugger award yesterday, marking the third time in as many years that Chase took home the award for National League 2nd Basemen. The award goes to the top offensive player at each field position as voted on by MLB managers and coaches.

Chase led all National League second basemen in several offensive categories, including games (159), hits (177), runs (112), runs batted in (104), on-base percentage (.383), slugging percentage (.583) and extra-base hits (78). His career-high 33 home runs in 2008 led all major league second basemen. In 2008 Chase became the third second baseman in major league history to record four straight seasons with 100 or more runs batted in.

Over the last four seasons (2005-08), Chase leads all major league second basemen in home runs (112), runs batted in (404), hits (702) and runs scored (433).
